PTC helps enhance work-readiness of STI students at National Career Fest

MAY 12, 2023

STI Global City recently invited Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) representatives through the PTC Talent Acquisition Group (TAG) to participate in their Mockup Job Interview Session as part of their National Career Fest last May 11. Over 500 graduating students from various courses which include BS in Information Technology, BS in Business Administration, BS in Hospitality Management, and BS in Tourism Management attended the half-day event. The event served as a preparation for STI’s actual job fair on May 12 where employers and recruiters were invited to conduct interviews and hire future employees for their respective companies.

Participating as interviewers and giving valuable feedback to the students were PTC Group representatives Normie Hernandez, PTC Family and Crew Relations Manager; Hector Brizuela, Pipeline Engagement Program (PEP) Manager; Arlene Ramirez, Sea Mariners Program Manager; and Kathleen Banaria, PHILCAMSAT Admin & Special Projects Asst. Manager.
"I was glad to be interviewed by a professional because their comments and advice were really helpful. I'm happy that I got to learn about PTC and was recognized for my skills, talent, and experiences. It was also helpful that I was given feedback regarding the areas that I can still develop in the future."

Representatives from The PTC Group were also honored to be part of STI’s school event. Normie Hernandez, Manager of PTC Family & Crew Relations, said, I'm happy that I took part in the mock interview for STI graduating students since it gave me the chance to assess a possible employee's experience, talents, and professional background once more in a short amount of time."
"STI graduating students are privileged to have Mock Interviews included in their curriculum. This gives them the advantage of preparing themselves before their actual interviews with their prospective employer. This experience has given me satisfaction in giving guidance and tips on how and what the students should do and avoid doing their interviews. We hope in our small way we can help and guide them in pursuing their dreams," said Arlene Ramirez, PTC-TAG Sea Mariners Program Manager.
Kathleen Banaria, Admin & Special Projects Asst. Manager of PHILCAMSAT said that she had a meaningful and fulfilling experience interacting with these graduating students. "I was able to share tips for their actual job interviews and at the same time, I had a chance to hear the students' aspirations and of course introduce the PTC Group's diverse job opportunities! I could feel the students' enthusiasm during the interview, and they really asked for tips on how to prepare for job interviews or what usual questions are asked during these interviews," she said.

PTC-TAG's Pipeline Engagement Program Manager Hector Manuel Jon Brizuela said that this activity is a good opportunity for the students of STI to have a feel of how an actual job interview would be like. "As PTC, we are also able to learn and interact with fresh graduates, some of which also would like to enter the maritime industry and pursue maritime careers. This is a learning opportunity both for PTC and STI in ensuring that quality careers are matched with prepared and skilled talents," he said.

Ms. Ma. Gretchen D. Bautista, Alumni & Placement Officer of STI College Global City, thanked The PTC Group for joining the mockup job interview and providing valuable insights and learning opportunities for their students. "Doing this mock interview with representatives from The PTC Group gave our students the opportunity to meet other people in preparation for their job interviews. That's why we are very thankful for giving us time and providing our students with the experience that they will need to prepare them as they seek jobs," she added.
